In the wake of the unprecedented flooding that has devastated our farming communities, we initially set a fundraising target of $150,000. At that time, the full extent of the disaster was still unfolding.

Now, as the waters recede and the true scale of the devastation becomes apparent, we recognise that this initial goal falls far short of what’s needed.​

The Current Reality:

• Livestock Losses: Heartbreaking reports reveal that over 100,000 livestock have perished or gone missing due to the catastrophic floods that have swallowed half a million square kilometres—an area twice the size of Victoria—in western Queensland. This number is expected to rise significantly. Tragically, countless pets have also been lost, separated from their families, or left stranded in the disaster. The toll on both animals and those who love them is immeasurable.
• Infrastructure Damage: Homes as well as thousands of kilometres of fencing and essential farm infrastructure have been destroyed, leaving properties exposed and operations at a standstill.
• Emotional Toll: Beyond the tangible losses, the psychological impact on our farmers is profound. The immediate shock is giving way to the daunting reality of rebuilding lives and livelihoods.​

Our caring team are speaking with our farmers and hearing the heartbreak firsthand and are doing everything we can to help. We’re providing urgent support to communities, farmers and their beloved animals, bringing hope in this incredibly tough time. Farmers are still operating on adrenaline, confronting the immediate tasks of survival and salvage. However, the profound emotional and psychological impacts of this disaster may not fully surface for weeks or even months.

Major floods leave lasting impacts long after the waters recede, creating ongoing health and financial challenges. Contaminated water and compromised sewerage systems expose humans and animals to serious bacterial infections, waterborne diseases, and mosquito-borne illnesses. The cost of medical care, veterinary treatment, and restoring safe water supplies adds to the already immense financial and emotional strain on farmers. Recovery isn’t just about rebuilding—it’s about protecting health, livelihoods, and the future of our rural communities.
