The frequency and severity of natural disasters, along with other crises and challenges, mean many farmers are at risk of losing their farms or even their lives.Â
Staggering statistics show us that:
-
- Nearly half of Australian farmers have felt depressed.
- Almost two-thirds of Australian farmers experience anxiety.
- Close to half of Australian farmers have had thoughts of self-harm or suicide.Â
- Close to one-third have attempted self-harm or suicide.Â
- One farmer completes suicide every 10 days. This is 59% higher than the rate among non-farmers.Â
Help us turn this around.Â
Farm Angels provides financial and emotional assistance, food hampers, care packs, and personalised support to thousands of farming families across Australia every year. In the last year, we received more than 860 applications for assistance, performed more than 2400 personalised wellness checks, and given approximately $1.5m in direct financial assistance.Â
While life on the farm is always demanding, some days are exceptionally tough, and in recent times there’s been a lot thrown at our hard-working farmers. They need our support to get through. Farm Angels help make the really tough days a little easier for our hard-working farmers.Â

Tony’s story
Drought, plague, and fire – each a formidable challenge on its own, but for Tony and Leisa, they came in rapid succession, testing their resilience and shaking their lives to the core.
Tony, a 6th generation farmer in Queensland, faced the drought of 2019, one of the longest in memory. Despite their own struggles, Tony, Leisa, and their family rallied to support their community, distributing hay alongside Farm Angels. Yet, even as they gave, they felt the strain on their own farm.
Then came the mice plague, unprecedented in scale. Tony recalls the surreal sight of thousands of mice swarming his property, wreaking havoc on crops and equipment, threatening their livestock.
Just as the rain finally controlled the plague, disaster struck again. A fire, fuelled by mice nests and chewed wires, devastated their family home to ashes, erasing decades of memories and cherished belongings.
In the aftermath, amidst overwhelming loss, Tony and Leisa found unexpected solace in the unwavering support of Farm Angels.
